30m (3 ATM) Water-Resistant. 3 ATM, or 30 meters (100ft), is the lowest water resistance contemporary watches feature. The rating guarantees protection against splashes of water and light rain. It means the watch withstands only mild contact and should be kept away from the water as much as possible.

1. Water Resistant 30 Metres / 3 Atmospheres / 3 Bar. If your water resistant watch says it is 30 metres, 3 atmospheres or 3 bars water resistant, this simply means it is resistant to small amounts of water like rain and splashing from hand washes. Anything more than that is a huge red flag!

Some watches that are water resistant to 3 bar can be worn in the shower if they have recently been resealed, but it is always best to check with the manufacturer. 50 metres (5 bar/5ATM) A water resistance rating of 50 metres means that the watch will be resilient to splashes, showers and some light swimming.

A 30-meter or 3-Bar watch is the minimum standard to receive a label of "water-resistant." In the real world, this means that water shouldn't get inside of a watch during a normal day. At the most basic level, a water resistant watch essentially protects from humidity.

You can also keep it during shower but we recommend you do so only if the watch is new or has been recently resealed.

With water-resistance of 3 bar, the watch can be worn when swimming or skiing, and at 6 bar it will have no problem with water sports or snorkelling. Diver's watches with an indicated water-resistance of 12 to 20 bar are professional measuring instruments designed for scuba-diving.

Details. There probably isn't a more misunderstood marketing term than "water-resistant". Almost every wristwatch is said to be water-resistant up to some depth (in feet or meters), which certainly sounds great. Some even claim to be waterproof. But, what does either one of those terms really mean?
